It’s five o’clock somewhere and in the islands, the best part about Happy Hour is the great deals on tasty pupus (a.k.a. appetizers) and tropical cocktails. This time is often associated with Pau Hana (translates as “done with” “work”). And for anyone traveling from the US mainland, the timing is basically dinner time, win-win. Check out our favorite places for Happy Hour on Oʻahu.
675 Auahi St., Honolulu @bevybar
This hip and dark little joint offers a cozy vibe inside or an urban little corner seat outside. Located in the up-and-coming Kaka’ako neighborhood, this ocean-friendly bar and restaurant has a team of bartenders who know how to build it, shake it, and stir it. The Happy Hour is just as bangin' as the music. The food is tasty too, and you can walk around the neighborhood and check out all the street art from the most recent Pow Wow. Sip it all in, Bevy’s got you covered.
Happy Hour is Tuesday through Saturday 5 pm to 7 pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.

This little mezcal bar is pouring some serious cocktails. There’s a gorgeous open-air back patio for enjoying your specialty margaritas and ono grub. The street tacos pair perfectly with their creative tequila drinks. There’s beer, wine, and other bites as well. This is a great spot to throw a couple back after a long day of work and being outside at the beach all day does count as work.

Mahina and Suns is a little oasis in the heart of Waikiki. Be sure to get a selfie in front of the ‘Wish You Were Here’ pool after eating some of their delicious pizza and bites. The staff is friendly, the decor is super cute, and drinks are flowing poolside.

66-250 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa (808) 200-2964
This hip spot is a chef-owned-and-operated local favorite on the North Shore. The bar peeks into the open kitchen and there's plenty of fresh air seating on the front deck. The dishes are Spanish and Mediterranean-inspired. The service is fantastic and the cocktail, beer, and wine menu is on point. It’s a perfect spot to grab a happy hour in Hale’iwa town. We recommend the Bartender's choice cocktail to help wash down the patatas bravas and blistered shishito peppers!
Happy Hour is Tuesday through Saturday 5 pm to 6 pm. Closed on Monday.

The Surfing Pig Hawaii is the fourth restaurant location, opened in early 2018 by Kono’s Restaurant Group. Also known as “Kono’s sexy big sister,” it is the first of its kind. Nestled in the heart of the Upper Kaimuki, on the corner of Koko Head & Waialae Avenue, its flavor is Americana with a bold, local twist. The interior design celebrates modern surf culture, and the walls are a muted canvas allowing the colors and ingredients on the dishes to shine.
Happy Hour is Monday to Friday 4 pm to 6 pm.
